Samsung kick started a teaser campaign for its next-generation foldable smartphones last week. Today, the South Korean brand has shared a new video teaser with a claim about its upcoming Galaxy Z 7 Fold. It is said to come with a thin and lightweight build. Samsung is anticipated to take the wraps off the Galaxy Z Fold 7 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 at its next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumoured to take place in July in New York.
Samsung Teased The New Galaxy Z Fold
Samsung, through a blog post on Tuesday, teased the next-generation foldable, likely to be called the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The company claimed that the newest “Galaxy Z series is the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet”. The blog post includes “Galaxy Z Fold” tags and a video of a smartphone with a book-style foldable form factor, pointing clearly toward the purported Galaxy Z Fold 7, not the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
The new offering is teased to provide an Ultra-level experience. Samsung stated that with each new Galaxy Z generation, their engineers and designers focus on making the devices slimmer, lighter, and more durable than before.
Several rumours had recently claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would be thinner than other existing foldables. It is said to measure 3.9mm in the unfolded state and 8.9mm when folded.
For reference, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 12.2mm thick in the folded state and measures 5.6mm when unfolded. Meanwhile, Oppo’s Find N5 is 8.93mm thick when folded and 4.21mm when unfolded.. Vivo’s upcoming X Fold 5 is speculated to measure 4.3mm in the unfolded state and 9.33mm in the folded state.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z series foldables are expected to be revealed in July. The company seems set to continue teasing features ahead of the official launch. The Galaxy Unpacked event for the new phones is rumoured to take place in New York.
The brand is expected to also bring a new Fan Edition (FE) version of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 this year.
